Wax & Tan FAQ

How often should I get my waxing treatment?

Every four weeks. Regular waxing is essential. The skin will be less sensitive if waxing is done every 4 weeks. Over time, with regular waxing, the hair follicle will have less and less of a grip on the hair to be pulled and the hairs will come out more easily.

Another reason to wax frequently is that you may experience less hair growth over time.

Is there anything I should do before my waxing appointment?

  • Refrain from taking a shower or bath immediately before the treatment. Soaking the hair will soften it, allowing it to break more easily and making waxing less effective.
  • Make sure the hair is the appropriate length for waxing.
  • Make sure that the area(s) to be waxed are clean.
  • There are certain medications and products that should not be taken or used if you plan to have a waxing treatment soon. Topical exfoliants used on the area to be waxed such as Retin-A, Renova, and hydroquinone, oral acne medications such as Accutane, blood-thinning medications, and topical/oral cortisone make the skin more sensitive and increase the likelihood of irritation or other complications. Please check with your doctor if you are unsure whether you should be waxed while on or using a medication..

Will waxing make my hair grow back thicker/stronger/darker?

Absolutely not but don’t bald men wish!

Waxing does not cause you to grow more hair follicles. In fact, if you become a regular waxer, you will notice that your hair will become quite sparse and not as coarse.

When hair is shaved, it is cut off at the thick part of the hair, which is why you can feel stubble the next day. A properly waxed hair is removed from the root, and when the hair starts to grow back it is a new hair, very fine at the tip, so no stubble.

How long, or short, should my hair be for waxing?

The hair should be at least 1/4-inch to 1/2-inch for best results. If you have coarse hair it should be closer to 1/2-inch for the first few waxes. Once the hair becomes finer it can be waxed at a shorter length. If your hair is longer, I recommend shaving the area and booking your waxing appointment for two to three weeks later.

It may take up to three waxing treatments to achieve smooth skin due to the fact that hair grows in stages and all of your hair is never at the same stage. It is very important to avoid shaving between waxing appointments, as this will interrupt the process and stimulate the hair growth again.

Spray Tanning

How soon before an event should I get my spray tan?

You should plan on getting your spray tan 2 days prior to an event so it has a chance to set into your skin and in the unusual case of any issues with your tan, they can be corrected.

What do I need to do to prepare before my spray tan?

As soon as you know you will be getting a spray tan you should start exfoliating and moisturizing your skin daily to get it in optimum condition for your spray tan to achieve optimum results. The day before you have your spray tan you should shave or wax any areas of unwanted hair you would normally remove. DO NOT shave the day of the spray tan if possible as shaving products and razors leave residues on your skin that can interfere with the tanning product adhering properly. The day of your spray tan you should shower and exfoliate your skin with a body scrub, loofah, AHA wash, or washcloth. You should avoid putting on any lotion, deodorant or makeup.

What do I wear during my spray tan?

You may wear an old bathing suit, bra and panties (not lace), or nothing at all. Whatever is worn during the spray tan will leave tan those lines. If you prefer, we also have disposable undergarments to provide to you.

How long does it take to dry?

We have you dry in front of fans for approximately five minutes then you can get dressed in loose clothing. The solution stays tacky feeling for approximately 30 minutes and after an hour you should feel completely dry. If your tan gets smudged or creased in any areas leave it alone. It’s only the bronzer layer and that washes off and your tan will look even after showering.

How long until I can shower?

When you leave, you will look instantly tan, however the solution must stay on for at least 8 hours to fully develop, without getting wet or sweating. No exercising until after initial shower (8 hours). The tanning solution can be worn overnight if you cannot shower before bed in which cases we recommend to wear loose pants and t-shirt to sleep in.

What do I wear after my spray tan?

You should bring loose, sleeveless clothing (dress or shorts) and sandals with minimal straps to wear after your tan. Please no jeans or tight pants!  Also, it is best to not put on a bra right after getting your spray tan.

Will the tanning solution stain my clothes or sheets?

No, the solution washes out of most fabrics except silk or leather with regular detergent. If you have leather car seats you should wear loose pants home to avoid transferring solution onto light colored leather seats.

How long does the tan last?

With proper after care, the tan usually lasts 5-7 days.

How do I care for my tan?

Let your tan set for at least 8 hours. Do not wash your skin with any abrasive soaps, washcloths, or loofahs during the life of your tan. Pat dry with a towel after showering, do not rub. Moisturize your skin twice daily with petroleum free body moisturizer. If you can, avoid swimming, taking baths, excessive showering and heavy exercising as this will shorten the life of your tan. Do not wax during the life of your tan.

Do I still have to wear sun screen?

Yes, the DHA spray tanning solution contains no SPF. You can still get tanned, and BURNT, through the spray tan, so you still must wear sun protection. Aerosol spray sunscreen will shorten the life of your tan, it is best to use a lotion sunscreen.
